On July 4, Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao and Minster Fredis Cerrato of Economic Development of Honduras announced on behalf of their governments the launch of China-Honduras FTA negotiations.
On March 26, 2023, China established diplomatic relations with Honduras, heralding a new stage for bilateral trade and economic cooperation. On June 12, President Xi Jinping held talks with visiting President Xiomara Castro. The two sides issued a joint statement announcing their consensus on launching FTA negotiations.
To launch FTA talks can help deepen practical bilateral trade and economic cooperation, boost the quality and standards of bilateral trade and strengthen investment and cooperation on all fronts.
