On September 11, 2020, China and Norway held a video conference between their chief free trade agreement (FTA) negotiators. The two sides had in-depth consultations over trade in goods, trade in services, trade remedy, competition, e-commerce, intellectual property, environment and trade, customs, technical barriers to trade, legal issues, dispute settlement, and other issues, and made significant progress.

Both China and Norway believed that as the COVID-19 pandemic spreads across the world, expediting FTA negotiations will help enhance bilateral economic and trade cooperation and protecting global industrial and supply chains, and will send a positive message of their joint, firm support for multilateralism and free trade.
