The first round of negotiations on upgrading the China-Peru FTA & the second meeting of China-Peru Free Trade Zone Commission were held on April 1-4 in Beijing. The two sides agreed to accelerate the negotiations, work hard to achieve the goal of upgrading the FTA and strive to draw a conclusion soon.

At the meeting, the two sides comprehensively reviewed and summarized the achievements made since the agreement took effect, sorted out the problems encountered in the implementation of the agreement, actively explored the relevant solutions, and carried out consultations on service trade, investment, intellectual property, e-commerce, competition policy, customs procedures, trade facilitation and rules of origin and made positive progress.

Since the China-Peru FTA took effect in March 2010, it has achieved good effects in general, and the utilization rate has increased year by year, which effectively promoted the healthy and rapid development of bilateral economic and trade relations, further enriched the connotation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Peru and brought tangible benefits to the enterprises and people of the two countries.
