On September 18-19, 2018, the 3rd meeting of the Joint Committee of China-Iceland FTA was held in Reykjavik, Iceland. Attening are the Chinese working group?consisted of Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, General Administration of Customs and the Chinese Embassy in Iceland. The Iceland participating departments included the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Iceland, Ministry of Industries and Innovation of Iceland, Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs of Iceland, Bureau of Investment Introduction of Iceland and the Bureau of Food and Veterinary.

At the meeting, the two parties spoke highly of the implementation achievements of China-Iceland FTA. They agreed that the implementation of FTA benefited the people and enterprises of the two countries widely, and deepened bilateral economic connections. The two parties had in-depth discussion on issues concerning commodities, services, investment, custom cooperation and economic and technological cooperation when implementing the agreement. They agreed to further strengthen cooperation under the framework of FTA, encourage enterprises to make full use of the preferential policies of FTA, and promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation to step into new stage, so as to make active contributions to strengthening economic and trade relations between China and Iceland and the trade relations between China and the European countries.

China-Iceland FTA is the first FTA signed by China and European countries, entering into effect officially on July 1, 2014.
