On March 25, the eighth meeting of the China-New Zealand FTZ Joint Commission was held in Beijing. Both sides positively commented on the important role played by the China-New Zealand FTA in deepening the trade and investment cooperation between the two countries and promoting the development of bilateral economic and trade relations. The two sides comprehensively reviewed the implementation of the agreement in the areas of trade in goods, customs procedures and cooperation, rules of origin, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, technical barriers to trade, trade in services, movement of natural persons, investment, cooperation, and trade remedies, and put forward specific suggestions and recommendations for the comprehensive and high-quality implementation of the agreement.

The China-New Zealand FTA is the first FTA signed between China and a developed country, and the first comprehensive FTA concluded by China covering many areas, including trade in goods, trade in services and investment.
