Recently, the visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao to South Korea and President of South Korea Lee Myung-bak held a talk. Both parties announced to wrap up China and ROK government-industry-university joint study in Free Trade Area (FTA) with the MOU signed by bilateral economic and trade ministers.

The joint study has deepened mutual understanding and taken an important step in the process of the FTA between the countries to lay a good foundation for further promoting the construction of China-ROK FTA.

Both parties agreed to further exchange opinions on their own concerns next to create conditions for launching talks soon.

China-ROK government-industry-university joint study in FTA kicked off in November 2006. Both parties conducted full and deep study on such issues as goods trade, trade in service and investment through 5 joint research meetings.
