The 3rd Hong Kong-China Fair on International Service Trade opened in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on July 8, 2009. Mr. Wang Chao, Assistant Minister of Commerce, Mrs. Rita Lau Ng Wai-lan, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of the HKSAR government, and Mr. Lin Tianfu, President of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) attended the "Forum on Development of Service Trade ", the Opening Session of the Fair, and delivered speech. Ms. Guo Li, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the CPG in HK SAR, and Mr. Li Daning, Deputy Director-General of State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM), were also present at the inauguration.
"Work together for win-win" is the main theme of the forum this year. In his speech, Wang Chao said that in the current situation, although the economy of both Mainland and Hong Kong hardly hit by the global financial crisis in varying degrees, service trade between the two sides has been developed rapidly. According to MOFCOM statistics, total import and export volume of service trade reached US$68.2 billion in 2008, up by 32.3% compared with the previous year. Hong Kong has become Mainland’s largest export market and largest source of imports for service trade, and it is expected that in 2009, there will remain a rapid growth in service trade between Mainland and Hong Kong and there will be a bright future for cooperation.
The Fair is warmly received by enterprises and related organizations of both Mainland and Hong Kong. Over 500 representatives from government and business communities attended the "Forum on Development of Service Trade ".
Hong Kong – China Fair on International Service Trade is a platform of cooperation and exchange jointly built up by MOFCOM and HKTDC for purpose of going global.It is held regularly every year in Hong Kong since 2007. Service enterprises from both sides could benefit from this platform of exchanges and cooperation, and to make positive contributions to the common prosperity of service industries of the two sides, as well as the development of China’s service trade.
