On November 8 to 10, the 3rd-Round Sino-Swiss Negotiation on Free Trade Zone was held in Sweden. The two sides deliberated on goods trade, service trade, Intellectual property rights, rules of origin, inspection and sanitary and phytosanitary , technical trade barriers, dispute settlement system, trade relief measures, and competition policies, and quite a number of consensus reached and substantial progress made.

Chinese representatives are from 14 ministries of MOFCOM, MFA, MIIT, MOF, General Administration of Customs, AQSIQ, CBRC and SBRC. Swiss representatives were from the Ministry of economic affairs, General Administration of Customs, Immigration Bureau, Ministry of Environment, Agricultural Bureau and other ministries.

The bilateral economic and trade relations were well-developed and the two countries officially launched the negotiation on free trade zone in 2011. Till now, Switzerland is China's ninth largest trading partner in Europe while China is Switzerland's largest trading partner in Asia. In the first eight months of 2011, Sino-Swiss trade volume grew up 46% than the same period of last year. Switzerland is China's sixth largest foreign investment source in European countries and Europe's largest investment in China's non-EU countries.
