The 4th round of China-Maldives FTA negotiations was held in Hong Kong on September 26-30. The two sides exchanged ideas on topics such as trade in goods, trade in service, investment and economic and technological cooperation and reached extensive consensus.
Maldives is China’s friendly partner in South Asia and Indian Ocean. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Maldives, the two sides have extended their cooperation in trade and economic areas and increasingly improved the level. The FTA is conducive to raising the comprehensive and friendly cooperation partnership in the future so as to benefit the enterprises and people of both sides.
From this round of negotiation, Hong Kong SAR officially engaged in the China-Maldives FTA negotiations and will sign the FTA with Maldives in the name of China Hong Kong, enhancing Hong Kong to widely join the regional economic cooperation.
