On December 4, the first meeting of the China-Ecuador Free Trade Commission was held online. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the implementation of the China-Ecuador Free Trade Agreement, agreeing that it has achieved positive outcomes. They also adopted the rules of procedure of the commission and engaged in in-depth discussions on issues of mutual interest, including trade in goods, rules of origin, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, cooperation in the digital sector, and collaboration between trade remedy investigation authorities, etc.

The China-Ecuador FTA was signed in May 2023 and officially entered into force in May 2024.
