On February 7, Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce, and Honduran Economic Development Minister Fredy Cerrato signed on behalf of their respective government the “Early Harvest Arrangement for the Free Trade Agreement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Honduras” via video link. Wang Shouwen, China International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce, and Melvin Redondo, Vice Minister of Economic Development of Honduras, attended the event.

China and Honduras have carried out three rounds of negotiations since July 2023. The two sides substantively reached an early harvest arrangement for the FTA during the third round in December. Signing the early harvest arrangement will bring the benefits of the FTA to the people and businesses on both sides at an early date, speed up the negotiations and further deepen and consolidate the commercial relations between China and Honduras.

The two sides agreed to implement their respective domestic procedures to bring the early harvest arrangement into force at an early date and speed up and conclude the FTA negotiations.
